Some pharmacies focus on compounding prescriptions.
This means that the pharmacist combines individual ingredients as determined by a medical practitioner into specific dosage forms such as tablets, capsules, creams, gels, lozenges and more. Compounding pharmacies formulate combinations which may include FDA-approved and/or pharmaceutical-grade substances into a custom medication, as specified by a prescription from a healthcare practitioner.

The healthcare practitioner can specify a prescription ideally suited to meeting a patient's individual hormonal needs when working with Women's International Pharmacy. For example, Women's International Pharmacy can also combine multiple hormones into one compounded medication. Other examples are preparing bioidentical hormone medications in different formulations (e.g., capsules, gels, creams, lozenges, drops, etc.) or adding flavors (peppermint, orange, lemon or cherry)
to make them more palatable.
